Day 1: Hanoi
– Mai Chau
Mai Chau is located in Hoa
Binh Province,
about 3 hours drive south-west of Hanoi,
Mai Chau offers a splendid vista of a valley surrounded by lush landscape and
stilt houses inhabited mainly by the White Thai ethnic group. Leave Hanoi at 8am - there are
many great photo opportunities along the way. On arrival, check in at Mai Chau
Lodge and enjoy lunch before driving to the Hang Kia Village. Inhabited by the H’mong hill
tribe and located 1,000m above the sea level, the fresh, cool breeze is one of
the best things about this two-hour trek through the lush landscape peppered
with plums, animals and wildlife. Tonight you will be treated with local
culinary delights complemented by rice wine from the village. Experience a
homestay! Homestay overnight
Day 2: Hang
Kia Village
- Mai Chau (B,L, D)
After a simple breakfast, say goodbye to the host before
transferring back to Mai
Chau Valley.
Lunch is at Mai Chau Lodge. In the afternoon, embark on a fun buffalo cart ride
to the nearby Thai villages of Pom Coong and Lac, chance to see beautiful
handicraft weaved by the local artisans; Followed by an excursion to the
limestone karst cave attached to the Lodge. A team of local hill tribe people
looks after the cave, which used to be a military base. Drive back to your
hotel to relax before the dinner accompanied by a traditional dance performance
by the local Thai tribe. Overnight at Mai Chau Lodge
Day 3: Mai Chau – Hanoi

In the morning, take a relaxing walk to Pom Coong and Lac
for handicraft shopping, strolling around or enjoining a cup of coffee with the
friendly villagers. After lunch at the lodge, drive back to Hanoi. End of services (hotel accommodation
today is not included)
